MCCARLEY - Terry Alan Ricks, age 60, died Tuesday January 19, 2010 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital from cancer.
Terry was born in Greenwood, August 10, 1949 to Franklin and Vera Cassidy Ricks. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and went in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He received a college degree from LaSalle University in Neuenburg, Germany. He was employed at the Greenwood Fire Department and became fire marshal and code inspector for the city of Greenwood until retirement. He recently owned Ricks Consulting Service inspecting building projects. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Carroll County and also served the Hickory Grove-Calvary Volunteer Fire Department. Full military rites will be performed by the Greenwood American Legion Post #29. The family wishes to extend thanks to Jimmy & Charlotte Lord, Betty Stigler and the Nurses and Staff of the 2nd floor of Greenwood Leflore Hospital during his illness.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday 1/22/2010 at Williams & Lord Funeral Home in Greenwood. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Gray and Rev. Everett Martin officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lord, Neal Blaylock, Hayden Shawler, Joe Vidourek, Wilson Allen and Paul Jaudon. Honorary Pallbearers will be the past & present members of the Greenwood Fire Department. Burial will be in Crestview Baptist Cemetery in Carroll County.
He is survived by his Parents, Franklin and Vera Cassidy Ricks of McCarley, MS. Brother, Ricky Lynn Ricks of Louisville, KY. Sister, Jan Ricks Vining of Greenwood, MS. 2 Nieces, Brittany(Hayden) Shawler and Sara(Joe) Vidourek, 2 Nephews, Andrew(Brandi) Vining and Cory Franklin(Tina) Vining.
