Hank Neil

Hank Neill age 64 of Leland, formerly of Greenwood, passed away at Indywood Glen on Friday, September 19, 2014. He had recently been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

He graduated from Marion Military Academy in 1968 and Mississippi State University in 1972 with a degree in agronomy. While at MSU he was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Following college, he pursued a number of interests and later became disabled. His love for the family farm (Willow Run) brought him much joy and he spent a lot of time riding "The Place" and visiting with Kerry James who farms it.

Hank was the son of Eugene and Kathryne Neill of Greenwood. His grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. Absalom Calvin Johnson of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cothran Neill of North Carrollton. He is survived by three siblings, their spouses and children. Sister Leigh Neill Macy (Richard) of North Carrollton and their daughters Elizabeth Rogers of Ocean Springs, and Karen Schepis of San Marcos Texas. Sister Eva Lillian "Tis" Dean (Ralph) of Oxford,their son Dr. Marc Dean of Rome, GA, and daughters Ginny Schenck of Cincinnati, OH and Mamie Brett of Nashville, TN. Brother William Calvin "Bill" Neill and his children Jennifer Watkins of Lexington, Lisa Neill Turnipseed of Chicago, IL, Will Neill of Greenwood, and Mary Claire Neill of Denton, TX. He is also survived by numerous cousins, great nieces, and nephews in whom he took great interest. He was preceded in death by niece Laura Kathryne Macy.

A memorial service led by the Reverend Doctor Rusty Douglas will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014 preceded by visitation in the church parlor commencing at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, North Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society. Hank's family wishes to thank the entire staff of Indywood Glen for their kindness in his last hours.
