Without a doubt, David was my best friend.

We stayed in touch over the years and now he is gone, there will be a void in my life.

I remember David fondly. He was a nice person and someone I admired

I liked how David quietly went his own way.  I had classes and band with him and he frequently had a little half-smile on his face as if he were thinking of a private joke that he did not share.    I am sorry to hear of his death.

David and I met in 4th grade at North Greenwood and remained friends forever.  We kept up with each other over the years, but of course, distance kept us from meeting as we would have liked to do.  Carolyn and I reconnected with David and his wife, Terry in Atlanta when he was about to have a bone marrow transplant to cure his leukemia.  We had a long talk about all that had happened over the years.  David wanted to have a reunion of our close friends and we hoped that after his transplant we would be able to do this.  However, it was not to be, David died on June 26, 2015.  David was buried in Arlington Cemetary in Atlanta with a beautiful Orthodox Jewish Service celebrating his life.  It was mine and Carolyn's distinct privilige to be asked by Terry to be with her and their family during this time and to be present at and participate in David's burial.  Friendships like this are forever, and I am confident we will meet again.

This is a photo of (Left to Right) David Kaplan, Tim Lamb, and Roy Seay.  This was taken on the A/C condenser in my backyard 500 Mac Arthur St. Greenwood, MS in July 1960 at my 10th birthday party.  Sorry I could not get the picture to rotate.

I want to join Tim and William and the others in remembering David. He was a lifelong friend, the kind where the once a year catch up phone conversations just picked up where you left off. We always communicated well. Our houses backed up to each other growing up and we would frequently call each other and say, "meet me in the alley!" There we would talk for hours about whatever was on our minds (I'll let you guess!). Later in life, David became very devout in his Judaism. I had become a devout follower of Jesus myself and you can imagine the conversations we had then - much more redemptive than the ones in the alley! Last year, David's wife Terry and her sister came out to the ministry my wife and I lead. It was an emotional visit and I suspect those emotions will linger for a long time.
